The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) and Toshiba Medical announced a new partnership dedicated to providing career development opportunities for radiology fellows and residents in the United States. Toshiba Medical’s support will allow 250 U.S.-based fellows and residents to join SCCT at no charge for one year, enhancing their early career opportunities and building their awareness of the growing contributions of cardiovascular computed tomography.

Researchers have used positron emission tomography (PET) to successfully identify genetic cell mutations that can cause lung cancer. The research, published in the featured article of the April 2017 issue of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, shows that an advanced image analysis technique, radiomics, can non-invasively identify underlying cell mutations in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

A study presented at the 2017 European Congress of Radiology (ECR) has concluded that adding digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) is emerging as promising technology for surgical planning, as it offers a better view of lesion margins than mammography alone.
