iCAD Inc. announced new clinical research demonstrating positive outcomes supporting the use of the Xoft Axxent Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx) System for the treatment of early-stage breast cancer. Preliminary results demonstrated that intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) using the Xoft System is safe, with excellent local control and cosmesis, and low morbidity. The analysis of the international, multi-center trial was unveiled during an oral presentation at the 60th American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting, Oct. 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas.
