International Radiology Day (IDoR) was November 9 — an annual celebration that commemorates Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen’s discovery of the X-ray in 1895 — and I was thrilled to see a flurry of tweets about the value of this sometimes under-appreciated specialty.

Gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) are widely used in medical imaging to provide essential diagnostic information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. These injections help a radiologist examine images more accurately by improving the visibility and the clarity of many abnormalities and for achieving maximum diagnostic quality.

Contrast media injector technology has seen several recent advances, such as cutting costs by reducing contrast waste and automated data collection for the dose a patient receives.
