Breast cancer recurrence rates of patients treated with intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) using the Xoft Axxent Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx) System were comparable to those seen in the TARGIT-A and ELIOT trials, according to new results. The results, published in the Annals of Surgical Oncology, came from a long-term study conducted at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif.

January 4, 2019 — Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have created new threats to the privacy of people's health data, a new University of California, Berkeley, a new study shows.

Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) indicated a significantly different clinician and patient-reported late toxicity profile for external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy (EBT+ B) versus transperineal interstitial permanent brachytherapy (B) alone in men with intermediate-risk prostate cancer.
