May 23, 2017 — IBA announced that the first patient has been treated with pencil beam scanning (PBS) technology at the Institut Curie in Orsay, France.
 
Since its opening in 1991, more than 8,000 patients have been treated at the Institute Curie Proton Therapy Center. During this time, the center has gradually upgraded its equipment to increase the number of indications that can be treated. Today, around fifty patients are treated every day in the three rooms available. The rooms include one gantry, one fixed beam and an eye line.
 

May 23, 2017 — The American College of Radiology (ACR) announced the launch of the ACR Data Science Institute (DSI) at the ACR 2017 — The Crossroads of Radiology annual meeting, May 21-25 in Washington, D.C.

Sigmascreening recently announced that a large independent Norwegian study further confirms Sigma’s hypothesis that pressure has a clear relation with the most optimal results in mammography.  The study confirms the importance of pressure in accordance with Sigmascreening’s concept of the Sensitive Sigma Paddle , which applies pressure guidance during mammography. The combination of results of an earlier Dutch and this new Norwegian study shows an optimal pressure in the range of 10 kPa. This pressure clearly correlates very well with the proposed pressure by Sigmascreening, according to the company.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) announced a series of sessions at the 2017 Annual Meeting that will highlight the initial results of the Radiology Support, Communication and Alignment Network (R-SCAN) program.
