Michigan Medicine and the University of Michigan have launched the nation’s first prostate cancer risk clinic, designed to provide individualized and structured care for men with a genetic predisposition to prostate cancer.

Brain imaging scans may one day provide useful information on the response to psychotherapy in patients with depression or anxiety, according to a review of current research in the November/December issue of the Harvard Review of Psychiatry.

Through computed tomography (CT) images of the heart and other types of imaging, build-up of dangerous coronary plaques — which restrict the flow of blood to the heart — can be detected, even before a person develops symptoms of heart disease. Because of this, there is increasing interest in using these imaging techniques to screen for heart disease. According to a review published recently in JACC:  Cardiovascular Imaging, a simple CT imaging technique called a coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan—often referred to as a calcium scan—may be particularly useful when screening for coronary artery disease.

The new additions were developed to increase visibility of subtle details and better control the reading environment.

Navidea Biopharmaceuticals announced the completion of the sale of its Lymphoseek product to Cardinal Health. Navidea received approximately $83 million at closing, and will have the opportunity to earn up to $227 million of contingent consideration based on certain milestones through 2026, with $17.1 million of that amount guaranteed over the next three years.
