SIIM and NYMIIS will host their first joint Regional Meeting highlighting Best Practices in Imaging Informatics on September 7, 2017. Learn about the latest, best practices in medical imaging informatics, including the Use of AI for Patient Care, Service-Line Integration Issues, Workflow Orchestration, Protocol Standardization, Governance and a peek into the future of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in informatics.

GE Healthcare announced that it has licensed computed tomography (CT) organ dosimetry technology developed at Duke University. The technology enables automatic calculation of organ dose, helping the clinician to better estimate the radiation exposure to the patient. The automatic calculation reduces the time needed to perform assessments for large numbers of patients, enabling epidemiologic and dose trend analysis studies.

July 31, 2017 — Accuray Inc. announced it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its iDMS Data Management System, enabling its use with the company's TomoTherapy platform.

Scientists at the University of Florida have discovered a new method of observing the brain changes caused by Parkinson’s disease, which destroys neurons important for movement. The development suggests that fluid changes in a specific brain area could provide a way to track that damage. The study, published in the journal Brain, was supported by the NIH’s National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).
