June 4, 2007 - The Breast Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Center Research Center (UAMS/ACRC Breast Center) recently announced that patients in Central Arkansas now have access to the Aurora 1.5T Dedicated Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) System, specifically designed for 3-D bilateral breast imaging.

Agfa HealthCare will be demonstrating its latest works in progress of IMPAXTM 6.3, a Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS), part of Agfa’s integrated RIS/PACS/Reporting solution, at SIIM, June 7-10 in Providence RI.

Richardson Electronics Healthcare will offer a new on-site technical service through their TekLink support services which will provide healthcare facilities with conformance and calibration testing and maintenance of medical imaging monitors.

Richardson Electronics Healthcare will display its Image Systems FP4200MED, reportedly the largest medically certified LCD available on the market with a 42-inch screen LCD, designed specifically for use in surgical suites, operating rooms, endoscopy suites, cath labs, emergency rooms and other specialty areas.

NovaRad Corp. will release NovaPACS 6.6 with embedded MIP (maximum intensity projection) and MPR (multiplanar reconstruction) tools to build and view 3-D images directly from the PACS workstation at SIIM 2007.

The MIP and MPR tools embedded in NovaPACS reportedly eliminate the need for radiologists to do post-processing reconstructions from the modalities and for technologists to redo reconstructions specified by the radiologists. Radiologists can now quickly reconstruct any study they want in any format they want right from NovaPACS.

PACSGEAR Inc. will introduce the PACSGEAR MediaWriter, a distributed CD/DVD burning solution that writes DICOM files to portable media, at SIIM 2007 in Providence, RI. MediaWriter reportedly gives hospitals, outlying departments and imaging centers a DICOM distribution solution that is easy to configure, deploy and maintain.

Carestream Health Inc. announced that it is now taking orders for its newest version of Kodak Carestream PACS that includes native 3-D and cardiac features and integrated applications including orthopaedic digital imaging for surgical planning and image fusion software for use by oncologists.

NEC Display Solutins will preview the NEC MultiSync 5-Megapixel Grayscale display, the 2.3-Megapixel Color NEC MultiSync LCD2490UXi and LCD2690UXi, the 2-Megapixel Color NEC MultiSync LCD5710 and the 2-Megapixel Color NEC Multeos Multi-Function monitors, at SIIM 2007.

Dynamic Imaging announced the launch of its user group Dynamic Imaging Associated Members Organized for Networking & Discussion (DIAMOND), giving PACS administrators, information technology directors and technologically-savvy radiologists the opportunity to network, share information and communicate best practices.
