Even though PACS systems are designed to run in mission-critical environments without interruption, sometimes PACS systems will still fail. When a PACS does go down, a PACS administrator has to face an immediate hurricane of angry physicians from the ED and Surgery as well as watching the radiology department grind to a stop.
