June 5, 2007 - Cardinal Health announced that it has launched a searchable online database of PET and PET/CT imaging centers to help physicians detect and treat select oncology, cardiology and neurology disorders.

Available at www.PETFoundations.com, the database has been created to assist physicians and patients in locating PET and PET/CT services, complete with maps and directions to the listed facilities. The service is free for all users.

June 5, 2007 - Royal Philips Electronics highlighted at SNM its Gemini TF PET/CT system with time-of-flight imaging and the new BrightView SPECT with the BodyGuard feature, as part of its nuclear medicine portfolio.
Gemini TF PET/CT system with time-of-flight imaging bosted 30 installation worldwide and demonstrated its capacity to imprve image quality, reduce dose, speed up scan times and image across a wide range of patient sizes.

June 5, 2007 - GE Healthcare introduced at SNM a new version of the company’s Discovery Dimension designed to help clinicians advance towards the goal of motion free PET/CT imaging, addressing the PET and CT imaging mismatches related to respiratory and cardiac motion. These include motion correction techniques that effectively improve clinical results and minimize blur caused by motion.

June 5, 2007 - Positron Corp. announced that it will launch in spring of 2008 a new dedicated-PET scanner for cardiac imaging.
The system is said to have faster attenuation than previous dedicated PET models, includes quantitative coronary disease software and will sell for under $600,000.
“There is a massive cardiology PET market that is under appreciated,” said Joe Oliverio, president of Positron. “Lower prices scanner with quantitative coronary software is perfect for the market.”

June 5, 2007 - Siemens introduced at SNM its HD PET, a technology which is designed to deliver superior detection of small lesions, dramatically greater staging capabilities and therapy accuracy.

June 5, 2007 - Henry Wagner, M.D., one of the founders of nuclear medicine, announced the 2007 Image of the Year Title was a PET image that demonstrates that trait aggression is associated with brain MAO A activity acquired by a team from the Brookhaven Center for Translational Neuroimaging, Psychological Medicine Department at King’s College, London, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, NIH.
“The mind is what the brain does,” noted Dr. Wagner, “The quantitative relationship shows brain chemistry linked to behavior.”
