August 20, 2007 — The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine is adding an Elekta Synergy S system to its Leksell Gamma Knife capability. A Stereotactic Center of Excellence, Johns Hopkins aims to fight cancer with both intracranial and extracranial resources for whole-body cancer treatment with the addition of Elekta Synergy S this fall.

Elekta Synergy S integrates high-resolution beam shaping, precise target localization, organ motion control and 3D imaging into one package, taking stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy to a new level.

August 20, 2007 — SecureWorks, a managed security services provider safeguarding 1,800 clients, has seen a 57 percent increase in the number of attempted attacks directed toward its healthcare clients by Internet hackers.

Attempted attacks have increased from an average of 5,900 per healthcare client per day in the last half of 2006 to an average of 9,300 per healthcare client per day in the first half of 2007 according to the company.

August 20, 2007 — Operating under the same tracking principles as a Global Positioning System in a car or cell phone, GPS for the Body system is now available at Penn's Department of Radiation Oncology.

This system offers cancer patient's real-time tracking of the prostate gland during radiation treatment with IMRT or intensity-modulated radiation therapy. Penn is the only institution in Philadelphia to offer this new technology.
