August 29, 2007 - NeuroLogica Corp. announced that the Indianapolis Colts, the 2006 NFL World Champions in partnership with Clarian Health Partners Inc., plan to use the CereTom portable CT scanner for on-site rapid assessment and diagnosis of head injuries during the 2007 NFL season in the RCA Dome.

The CereTom reportedly produces instant, high-quality images of the head and neck to diagnose various brain injuries and brain bleeds, as well as injuries occurring in the extremities including elbows, knees and ankles.

August 28, 2007 - Clinical software maker Allscripts announced Southwestern Medical Clinic selected Allscripts as its provider of an integrated electronic health record and practice management solution to automate clinical and financial operations for the group's nearly 70 healthcare providers.
Southwestern Medical Clinic is a multi-specialty group practice with 53 physicians and 13 mid-level providers caring for more than 80,000 patients in eight locations across rural Berrien County, MI.

August 28, 2007 — Biometric technology research and development firm M2SYS Technology said it has partnered with Gnosis Medical Services to provide a biometric fingerprint solution for patient identification in developing countries.
"In many developing countries, there is no form of identification,” said Rogers Hellman, founder of Gnosis. “When an individual visits a doctor, there is no way to identify them or to find a record of their past medical history, and language barriers can create a problem in receiving effective medical treatment.”

August 28, 2007 — To support initiatives that enhance patient safety and quality of care, Cardinal Health announced it is granting up to $1 million to fund new and innovative programs at hospitals, health systems and community health clinics across the country.
This grant is the largest and first of its kind given by a health-care company. Grants of up to $50,000 will provide funding for programs that establish or implement creative and replicable methods to address challenges in providing quality patient care and to help drive improvements.

August 28, 2007 - Misys Healthcare Systems and iMedica jointly announced an agreement that Misys will license iMedica’s innovative electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PM) solutions as the foundation for a new family of physician offerings focused on small-sized practices.

Initial products, including ASP service offerings, will be announced in November 2007. The offerings will complement the existing Misys suite of solutions, including Misys Vision, Misys Tiger, Misys EMR and Misys Payerpath.

August 28, 2007 - Aurora Imaging Technology Inc. recently announced that the company is a flagship sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, a five-mile, noncompetitive walk, set to take place Oct. 14, 2007 in Boston, MA.

The event is the nation’s oldest and largest one-day walk, raising more than $33 million to fight breast cancer since its inception in 1993. In 2006, nearly 40,000 walkers raised $3.2 million.

August 28, 2007 – CardiArc Inc. announced that researchers at Emory University Hospital will perform evaluations in clinical settings of the design and performance of the company’s CardiArc SPECT system, the second healthcare facility to research and provide clinical evaluations of the heart imaging system after an agreement with Cleveland Clinic was announced in June.

The testing and research is expected to yield valuable data in gaining additional knowledge of heart disease and to optimize the imaging system’s performance.

August 28, 2007 – GE Healthcare announced that it has signed an agreement with Novation for GE’s advanced radiology and cardiology image and information management technologies, which will extend technology offerings to VHA Inc. (VHA) and the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), two national health care alliances, and Provista member healthcare organizations.
