August 28, 2007 – CardiArc Inc. announced that researchers at Emory University Hospital will perform evaluations in clinical settings of the design and performance of the company’s CardiArc SPECT system, the second healthcare facility to research and provide clinical evaluations of the heart imaging system after an agreement with Cleveland Clinic was announced in June.

The testing and research is expected to yield valuable data in gaining additional knowledge of heart disease and to optimize the imaging system’s performance.

August 28, 2007 – Arizona State University (ASU) recently announced that they have received the National Science Foundation grant, the largest grant amount ever awarded to fund mathematics research at ASU, awarded to support a project aimed at making advances in medical technology to improve magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The National Science Foundation grant will provide $1 million over three years to the project titled “Mathematical Foundations of Magnetic Resonance Imaging” led by Rosemary Renaut, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

August 28, 2007 - Cedara Software, a Merge Healthcare company and a medical imaging software and services company, announced that Varian Medical Systems has licensed the Cedara MergeCOM-3 DICOM Toolkit for use in their medical imaging applications, allowing Varian to accelerate the development of DICOM-compliant solutions cost effectively.

August 27, 2007 — iCRco Inc. a manufacturer of computed radiography and X-Ray Digitizing equipment recently gathered all of its production, sales and marketing teams under one roof.

The company will now reside in a 75,000 sq ft, two story facility which will enable iCRco to have overall control on all its departments.

Patent holder to the True Flat Scan Path technology, iCRco machines reportedly eliminate the need to put CR plates through rollers, resulting in artifact free, uncompromised images, according to the manufacturer.

August 27, 2007 — Cardinal Health recently recalled a device that could potentially lock up and fail to supply anesthesia to patients.

The Pyxis Anesthesia System 3500 may fail to automatically dispense "critical medicines" during surgery without rebooting, according to a recent statement posted on the company's Web site. No reports of injury have been received to date.

Cardinal Health, the second-largest U.S. drug distributor, said it plans to address problems in the Pyxis system's software and notify hospitals of the recall.
