December 4, 2007 - GE Healthcare IT announced that the University of Colorado Hospital is now live with the company’s Centricity Preoperative System to streamline surgical services across five business segments, integrating anesthesia, nursing, scheduling, surgery management and pre-procedures services into one patient record.

December 4, 2007 - InSite One’s InDex Archive surpassed 1.5 billion individual images and over 20 million studies stored for over 500 sites nationally, equating approximately three percent or 9 million of the U.S. patient population.

InSite One offers an out-sourced archiving service, which on a weekly basis reportedly receives 12 terabytes of medical information in its Tier-4 data centers.

December 4, 2007 – Siemens released INVISION 27, a health information system that contains platform, database and application upgrades designed to streamline information across clinical, financial and administrative functions.

INVISION 27 allows customers to visit the new Drug Allergy Module (DAM) from First DataBank (FDB), providing additional allergen information designed to improve clinical checking. The allergy data can be interfaced to various systems, including Siemens Pharmacy and Soarian Clinicals to support the foundation for the electronic health record.

December 4, 2007 - Merge Healthcare introduced eFilm Workstation version 3.0 diagnostic imaging software, including enhancements in a Gold version and a Platinum version that are designed to accelerate radiologist productivity; both are available as an update for existing eFilm Workstation customers.

December 4, 2007 - Royal Philips Electronics announced it will acquire US-based Emergin Inc., a provider of software utilized to rapidly transmit medical alarm signals throughout hospitals, and will expand the use of information technology in healthcare – and specifically in its patient monitoring business – to improve patient outcomes and help hospitals work more efficiently.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2007, upon which Emergin will become part of the Patient Monitoring business unit within Philips’ Healthcare sector.

December 4, 2007 – TeraRecon announced new workflow technologies, “Workflow Templates” and “Workflow Scenes” as part of the Aquarius iNtuition platform, identifying the nature of each examination received by the server, without relying on DICOM headers, then performing pre-processing steps using optimized algorithms selected for the anatomy being processed.
