December 4, 2007 – Siemens released INVISION 27, a health information system that contains platform, database and application upgrades designed to streamline information across clinical, financial and administrative functions.

INVISION 27 allows customers to visit the new Drug Allergy Module (DAM) from First DataBank (FDB), providing additional allergen information designed to improve clinical checking. The allergy data can be interfaced to various systems, including Siemens Pharmacy and Soarian Clinicals to support the foundation for the electronic health record.

December 4, 2007 - Royal Philips Electronics announced it will acquire US-based Emergin Inc., a provider of software utilized to rapidly transmit medical alarm signals throughout hospitals, and will expand the use of information technology in healthcare – and specifically in its patient monitoring business – to improve patient outcomes and help hospitals work more efficiently.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2007, upon which Emergin will become part of the Patient Monitoring business unit within Philips’ Healthcare sector.
