January 22, 2008 - Spectrum Surgical Instruments Corp. has assembled 42 brushes in designing its recently released endoscopic instrument cleaning brush kit.

Using surgical stainless steel twisted wire shafts and white, medical-grade anti-microbial bristles this collection of brushes offers the diameters and lengths to assist in cleaning take-apart instruments, suction irrigators, and all other types of instruments used in endoscopic procedures. All brushes are reusable and are packaged in units of three.

January 22, 2008 - The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) is authorized, as designated by the New York Department of Health, to be used by office-based surgery practices to meet new accreditation requirements in the state.

The New York law requires office-based surgery performed by physicians requiring moderate sedation, deep sedation, or general anesthesia, and certain liposuction procedures be performed in a setting that has obtained and maintained accreditation from an entity approved by the state health commissioner.

January 22, 2008 - ACR Image Metrix, a for-profit contract research organization headquartered in the American College of Radiology Philadelphia office, will conduct a multireader clinical study to determine whether the addition of the iCAD Inc. CT Colon Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) system enables radiologists interpreting CT colonography images to detect more cancers than they would without utilizing the iCAD system in the image interpretation process.

ACR Image Metrix will work with iCAD to develop and execute a clinical study to support FDA approval of CT Colon CAD.
