January 14, 2008 - MedPlus, the healthcare information technology subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics Inc. was awarded a contract to implement a clinical portal and information exchange for the Brooklyn Health Information Exchange (BHIX), enabling physicians and other healthcare workers to securely collect, manage and share patient information in real time from Internet-enabled locations across the BHIX's eleven partner organizations.

January 14, 2008 - Constance D. Lehman, M.D., Ph.D., director of Radiology at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and professor of Radiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, will conduct “Breast MRI Analysis and Interpretation with CAD,” a live, one-hour CME online review of breast MRI cases on January 22, 2008 at 5:30 PM Pacific Time (8:30 PM Eastern Time).

Dr. Lehman is the author of some of the most significant studies of breast MRI published in the past two years.

January 11, 2008 - Hyland Software this week signed an agreement with the national healthcare alliance VHA Inc. for its OnBase document management software.

The agreement will provide discounted pricing to VHA’s 1,400 member hospitals and 21,000 nonacute healthcare organizations on document management solutions that aid in improving the quality of patient care while reducing cost and increasing efficiency at healthcare organizations.

Computerized in-silico models simulate the real heart and enable possible drugs and therapies to be tested without risk to people.
However, in order to create a realistic model, you need accurate and extensive data from real hearts for calibration.

January 11, 2008 – Siemens Medical Solutions changed the name of its healthcare division to Siemens Healthcare, as part of a global restructuring of the Erlangen company, taking effect this month.

Announced in November, the name change will cover the Imaging and IT, Workflow and Solutions, including cardiology, oncology, urology, surgery and women’s health and Diagnostic divisions.

January 9, 2008 - ReBuilder Medical Technologies Inc. said today that as a result of their success with silver ions in treating Molluscum Contagiosum, it has expanded and reformulated those products specifically for the MRSA market.

The company said the past standard for treatment with open Molluscum lesions was to leave them open for up to two years. However, these lesions can be a breeding ground for a deadly MRSA infection.
