April 11, 2008 - Ethicon Endo-Surgery today revealed results from a new study showing laparoscopic surgery reduced the risk of nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections by 52 percent when compared to open surgery in a sample of more than 11,000 patients undergoing hysterectomy, cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) and appendectomy.

Honorees will be announced at the TEPR 2008 opening session on Monday, May 19, in Fort Lauderdale FL.

According to MRI, this new TEPR Award is the first major effort to challenge EMR vendors to demonstrate that their products meet a range of EMR medicolegal requirements, including identity and authentication, document version management, signature events, data integrity and document event auditing functions.

April 11, 2008 - Microflex Corp., a subsidiary of Barrier Safe Solutions International, this week released its newest nonlatex glove - the Tranquility, a white examination glove designed to offer comfort and protection.

Tranquility gloves conform to the hand allowing for better tactile sensitivity and grip, the company said. The gloves are said to have a good grip whether they are wet or dry.

The nonlatex gloves can be used safely with patients who have allergies to natural latex rubber.
