AFC Industries Inc. will feature at SIIM 2008 the ErgoTier, an addition to its MaxFlex series of customizable workstations for radiology reading, which now comes with a full range of accessories.

IDC’s X-Series CCD-based imaging detectors, X3C and X4C give a digital alternative to film-based X-ray. IQQA-Enterprise Engine technology which will be featured at SIIM 2008, aims to address the challenge that physicians and hospital IT now face in integrating more and more advanced clinical applications into existing PACS workflow. The GuardianOR Surgical Instrument Detector by Medical Cost Containment Systems is a metal detector imbedded in the lid of a standard-sized hamper stand designed to alert medical staff if a metal object, including surgical instruments or tools, are accidentally discarded. The detector immediately emits a sound, alerting staff that an instrument was discarded, said the company.

SonoSite Inc. recently released one of the first ultrasounds designed for musculoskeletal specialist.

The S-MSK was made for usage by rheumatologists, physiatrists, sports physicians, orthopedic and osteopathic surgeons and physical therapists, said the company.

Based on SonoSite’s fourth generation M-Turbo platform, the S-MSK ultrasound tool reportedly delivers an increase in processing power for superior image clarity plus connectivity for digital image export. The ultrasound system is backed with a five-year warranty.
