August 8, 2008 - TomoTherapy Inc. will introduce the TomoDirect discrete-angle delivery mode for the TomoTherapy Hi-Art treatment system at European Society for Therapeutic radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) in Gothenburg, Sweden, Sept. 14-18, 2008, and the American Society for Therapeutic radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) in Boston, MA, Sept. 21-25, 2008.

The MFCD-1219, Barco’s 19-inch color flat panel display with a resolution of 1280 x 1024, has been designed for medical viewing applications. Its high brightness and excellent viewing angle guarantee optimum efficiency, according to the company. User controls are available through On-Screen Display. The MFCD-1219 can be combined with analog and digital (DVI connector) display controllers.

Coronis Color 3MP Diagnostic Luminance is reportedly a versatile, multimodality color display system featuring Diagnostic Luminance backlight technology. While most color displays are not bright enough for diagnostic grayscale imaging, the new Coronis Color 3MP Diagnostic Luminance provides brightness and DICOM-accuracy over its entire lifetime, said the company.

TomoTherapy Inc. has added to the TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment system the TomoDirect discrete-angle delivery model.

This new technology allows Hi·Art system users to quickly plan and deliver advanced TomoTherapy radiation treatments with a series of linear beam paths, rather than the existing helical path, said the manufacturer. With TomoDirect, clinicians can choose several discrete angles and the optimal modulation level required for delivery, based on specific patient therapy goals.
