Bard and Medegen, the MaxPlus ClearT needleless access connector will now be included in peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) kits sold by Bard Access Systems.

The device aims to eliminate potential tugging of the wire during removal in preparation for surgery.

VIDAR Systems' ClinicalExpress 4.0 is a new software created for use with its CAD PRO Advantage that is DICOM-compliant and allows users to connect outlying clinics, departments, film libraries, or reading or treatment facilities.

The CAD PRO Advantage digitizer, specifically designed for mammography, reportedly provides the ability to quickly digitize film-based prior studies. When coupled with the appropriate software, it uses the DICOM MG standard to identify the specific mammography view contained on each film.

INFINITT North America (INA) has INFINITT Smart-NET, an applications service provider (ASP) version of PACS that reportedly allows even small physician practices to go filmless. The company said it may be the only approach to PACS that can be scaled for low imaging volumes, extending electronic imaging benefits to physician practices.

Philips Healthcare’s GEMINI TF Big Bore features a full 85 cm bore for PET and CT scans. The new system allows for positioning flexibility and has a rigid table design to reportedly meet the accuracy requirements for treatment planning. The GEMINI TF Big Bore allows clinicians to image patients in the same position they are treated, expanding PET/CT capabilities beyond diagnosis, staging and follow-up to include therapy planning, Philips said.

The Aurora Imaging Technology 1.5T Dedicated Breast MRI System with Bilateral 3D SpiralRODEO is for breast imaging, creating an elliptical, homogenous field of view with coverage of both breasts, chest wall and axillae in a single scan.

The system accommodates core or vacuum-assisted biopsy. Its DICOM, AuroraCAD physician workstation facilitates image multiplanar reformation and 3D maximum intensity projections. The flared table design improves patient comfort and allows greater access to the breasts for biopsies.

Mindray Medical International Ltd. said it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its AS3000 next generation anesthesia delivery system (the AS3000) developed by Datascope Patient Monitoring, a Mindray company.
