October 17, 2008 - Swedish Neuroscience Institute (SNI) said as part of Swedish Medical Center’s newly renovated Cherry Hill Campus, the Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment (CABTT) has officially opened its doors to patients diagnosed with both benign and malignant brain tumors.

CABTT’s facility is reportedly the first community-based center in Washington state that enables scientists, researchers, doctors and patients to work collaboratively toward new treatment options for those diagnosed with all stages of brain tumors, including brain cancer.

October 16, 2008 - Royal Philips Electronics opened the first magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography (CT) manufacturing facility in Latin America, as part of Philips' strategy to service emerging healthcare markets.

Starting in November 2008, the plant will also produce CT devices, making it the only site in Latin America manufacturing the two types of equipment. Customers across Latin America will benefit from shorter delivery periods and reduced equipment costs, said Philips.
