March 4, 2008 - Hill-Rom introduced an enhanced NaviCare Nurse Call at the 2008 HIMSS conference, the most recent addition to the NaviCare Clinical Operations Platform designed to dramatically enhance caregiver and patient outcomes by supporting improved patient safety, quality of care and operational efficiency.

The company says NaviCare Clinical Operations Platform is designed to allow caregivers the opportunity to return to their patients by improving care delivery processes and minimizing nondirect care tasks through automation and ease of information access and use.

The platform evolved from a need to provide a seamless, integrated and intuitive way to manage the complexity of clinical operations, including communication, patient flow, protocol compliance, patient safety and asset management, the company said.

The NaviCare platform is said to automate routine patient safety tasks and tedious documentation, relieving the nurse of the need to perform such tasks. Targeted alarms and alerts within the technology enable caregiver response to patient conditions, preventing adverse events. In addition, communications via wireless links allow caregivers to be continuously connected to their patients.

The platform is compatible with Hill-Rom’s intelligent bed and surface systems and easily integrates with existing hospital networks.

NaviCare Nurse Call is one of the first nurse call systems with touchscreen displays in each patient room. This innovative nurse call system has been designed from the ground up to be intuitive for caregivers, minimizing training costs and user error or the neglect of valuable features.

Nurse Call is designed as a real-time documentation and system-wide communication, automatic smart alerts, detailed measurement of care events and reporting.
