In order for the radiologist to do the best possible job, there are a number of systems that need to work optimally. Not the least of these is the monitor on which the images and information are displayed, especially in digital mammography; in fact, if the monitor is not up-to-snuff, all the quality of the systems and processes that go before may be wasted.
Eizo unveiled the newly expanded RadiForce line of medical imaging liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors at RSNA 2010. Beyond just high quality diagnostic LCD monitors, the line now incorporates full surgical and endoscopic solutions. Large format monitors such as the RadiForce LS560W delivers 8 MP resolution in a 56-inch screen size, which equals that of four full high definition (HD) monitors.
Eizo highlighted several products, including its 10 mega-pixel mammography display (not yet released in the U.S. market) at SIIM 2010. The 10 MP display features a new pixel structure ideally suited for accurate display of mammography images.
Until recently, medical-grade flat panel displays have been the obvious choice for reading diagnostic imaging exams. But advances in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) display technology coupled with a lower list price have prompted many radiology groups to make the controversial decision to choose commercial-grade over medical-grade displays.
Eizo Nanao Corp, (EIZO) will debut the RadiForce GS521, a new 5 megapixel (2048 × 2560 native resolution) monochrome LCD monitor at RSNA 2009.
