February 27, 2007 – The Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently granted that The Joint Commission continue deeming authority under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), meaning laboratories accredited by The Joint Commission are deemed as meeting both CLIA and Medicare certification requirements.

The federal government’s Final Notice, granting the deeming authority for five years to The Joint Commission Laboratory Accreditation Program was published in the February 2007 Federal Register.

February 26, 2007 – VersaMed recently announced its contract with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) to provide the iVent201 Disaster Preparedness ventilator, giving the ability to set up in seconds and transfer a patient between leak-tolerant, non-invasive and invasive modes without having to switch machines.

The iVent201 provides advanced diagnostic features including loops, 14 parameters of trending, graphics and data recall.
