August 3, 2007 - Medipattern Corp., a developer of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) medical imaging software designed to detect cancer announced it has closed a deal with Research Capital Corp. issuing 4,730,000 common shares at a price of $1.10 per share for aggregate gross proceeds of $5,203,000.

August 3, 2007 - According to a study released in the August 1 edition of the International Journal of Radiation, Oncology, Biology, Physics, the official journal of ASTRO, women with early stage breast cancer who receive a newer type of radiation called intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) develop significantly fewer side effects than women who receive traditional radiation therapy.

August 3, 2007 - ART Advanced Research Technologies Inc. (ART), a Canadian medical device company, announced an agreement to develop and conduct clinical research with the Stanford Breast Imaging Section of Stanford University to evaluate the effectiveness of the SoftScan optical breast imaging system in treatment monitoring and diagnosis of breast cancer.

August 3, 2007 - OncoLogics Inc., a comprehensive radiosurgical and radiation therapy clinic in southwest Louisiana, announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase a Clinatron-250 proton beam radiation therapy (PBRT) system, still under development, from Still River Systems, reportedly becoming the only center in Louisiana to commit to this technology.

August 2, 2007 — The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Children's Health and Medicare Protection Act (CHAMP Act), which will expand health insurance coverage to more poor children and help preserve Medicare beneficiaries' access to physicians.

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) urged the U.S. Senate to pass similar legislation this week, saying that improving health insurance coverage for children will help them live healthier, happier lives and help protect access to emergency care for everyone.
