July 27, 2007 - Internationally Recruited Nurses: Creating Positive Practice Environments is the topic of a conference being sponsored by the International Centre on Nurse Migration and the American Nurses Association Aug. 3 to 7 in Chicago, Ill.

The conference will serve to provide a better understanding of the immigration process and the strategies that create a positive work environment and facilitate the successful integration of internationally recruited nurses into the healthcare team.

July 27, 2007 — In a recent opinion poll conducted by Sage Products Inc., 57 percent of the 200 wound ostomy continence nurses who responded said their hospital has a specific protocol in place for prevention of incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD). Forty-three percent do not have any protocols in place. The poll was conducted at the Wound Ostomy & Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society’s annual conference, June 9-13, 2007.

July 27, 2007 – Concerned about the unanticipated negative impact on Medicare beneficiaries and their quality of care as a result of reimbursement changes made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for procedures performed at freestanding imaging centers, MedSolutions has concluded that there are significant implications for beneficiaries if access to freestanding imaging centers is diminished because of CMS cuts to reimbursement as a result of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA).

July 27, 2007 - Advanced Image Enhancement Inc., a provider of optimized image enhancement solutions for digital radiology, announced that the firm has entered into a licensing agreement with Hologic, agreeing that AIE will provide its image enhancement software for Hologic's SecureView diagnostic mammography workstations.

AIE's proprietary image enhancement software, which leverages signal processing technology originally developed from Navy research to locate undersea mines, reportedly enables physicians to extract more information from medical images.
