July 31, 2007 - Medtronic Inc. announced it has entered into a distribution and development agreement with Axon Systems, a privately-held developer of neuromonitoring technology used during spinal surgery.

The agreement will allow Medtronic and Axon Systems to bring to market the next generation of surgeon directed and professionally supported spinal neuromonitoring technology and expand the availability of this critical technology.

July 31, 2007 - The U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has awarded ECRI Institute a new three-year contract to operate, enhance, and maintain two Web-based initiatives for AHRQ.

The two sites are the National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC), www.guideline.gov, for evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and the National Quality Measures Clearinghouse (NQMC), www.qualitymeasures.ahrq.gov, for evidence-based quality measures and measure sets.

July 31, 2007 – The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) hosted an audio conference July 31, 2007, from 2:00-3:00pm EST on the two ASC rules released July 16, 2007.

The two rules are: 1. The final rule on ASC payment system reform, and 2. the ASC-related portion of the proposed rule proposing payment rates and payment policies for hospitals and ASCs effective Jan. 1, 2008.
