August 9, 2007 - Deep Breeze announced that the FDA has granted 510K marketing clearance for the VRIXP, a non-invasive, radiation-free pulmonary imaging system that uses lung sounds to create dynamic images of the lungs.
Deep Breeze plans to launch VRIXP in the U.S. at the 2007 CHEST meeting in Chicago, Oct. 20 to 25.

August 9, 2007 - Urologists and radiation oncologists expect the use of Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) to become much more widespread within the next few years, leading to more focused treatment that will be delivered in fewer sessions, according to a report released by market research group IMV Limited.

August 8, 2007 - Nuclear Oncology Medical Care, DuPage Oncology Center in Winfield, IL, is the first cancer center in the state to install and use the AccuBoost System for image-guided treatment of breast cancer.

The AccuBoost’s first patient in Illinois is 76-year old Mrs. G. Miller who will receive the site-specific radiation treatment for breast cancer in sessions performed over eight days. The treatment is designed to deliver focused radiation to the lumpectomy cavity while minimizing the unintended exposure to the heart and lungs.

August 8, 2007 - Masimo Corp. announced the pricing of its initial public offering of 11,916,626 shares of common stock at a price of $17 per share.

Masimo intends to use the net proceeds from the offering for capital expenditures and the placement of equipment, sales and marketing activities to support the ongoing commercialization of the Masimo SET and Masimo Rainbow SET pulse oximetry products, sales force expansion, research and development activities and including support of hardware and software product development and clinical study initiatives.

August 8, 2007 - Orbotech Ltd. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 3D - Danish Diagnostic Development A/S (DDD), a privately-held Danish company that develops and manufactures gamma cameras for nuclear medicine, as part of a strategy to generate a projected $30 million in annual revenues, which is expected to be immediately accretive to Orbotech on a non-GAAP basis.

August 8, 2007 – Accuray Inc. announced that use of its CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System to noninvasively treat extracranial tumors has increased 75 percent in 2007.

The number of lung cancer patients treated with the system doubled, while the number of prostate cancer procedures with the system quadrupled over the past year.

Radiosurgery has historically been used exclusively for the treatment of brain tumors. The CyberKnife System, however, is FDA cleared to treat tumors anywhere in the body, including the spine, lungs, prostate, liver and pancreas.

August 8, 2007 – The National Cancer Institute (NCI)/National Institutes of Health (NIH) have awarded TechniScan Medical Systems, developer of ultrasound technology for breast imaging, Phase II grant monies for prototype construction of its UltraSound CT scanning system.
