September 11, 2007 — Researchers continue to search for a treatment to eradicate cancer, one of mankind's greatest afflictions and although a "cure" remains elusive, a vaccine to treat and prevent it may just be on the horizon.

Yvonne Paterson, Ph.D., a scientist who is also a breast cancer survivor, and her team of researchers appear to have taken a giant step forward by developing a series of cancer-fighting vaccines that appear to be able to stop and even reverse cancer growth.

September 11, 2007 —The BC-SeraPro blood serum test for detection of breast cancer is being developed by Power3, in conjunction with Mercy Hospital Women's Center.

The test analyzes biomarkers, or specific proteins, that indicate the difference between normal breast tissue, a benign breast disease, and a breast cancer. A recent study showed that the BC-SeraPro diagnostic test detected the disease accurately in 80 to 90 percent of the patients.

The site is aimed at more than 1 million US oncologists, hematologists, oncology nurses, and all other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment, care and diagnosis of patients with cancer.

September 10, 2007 — The Prescription Project, a national campaign to end the influence of pharmaceutical marketing on physician prescribing decisions, applauded U.S. Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Herb Kohl (D-WI) for their proposed legislation to require manufacturers of pharmaceutical drugs, devices and biologics to disclose the amount of money they give to doctors through payments, gifts, honoraria, travel and other means.
