September 17, 2007 — Novatrix Biomedical Inc. announced that it has formed a new company, Curexo Medical Inc. (CMI), with the acquisition of all assets of Integrated Surgical Systems Inc. (ISS).
Under the licensing agreement, Curexo Inc., will transfer all the assets acquired from ISS to CMI.
Curexo Medical Inc., located in Sacramento, California, retained the former officers and employees of ISS in order to facilitate rapid introduction of its surgical robotics system into the U.S. orthopedic market.

September 17, 2007 – The traditional long-sleeve, white smocks doctors wear have been banned under a new set of guidelines issued by the British Department of Health to combat healthcare-associated infections.

The package of rules not only includes guidance on clothing, but also new responsibilities for matrons, the isolation of patients who are infected, increased infection reporting, and asking all healthcare workers to wash their hands.

September 17, 2007 - Zotec Partners, a solutions firm providing proprietary medical billing services and licensed software to hospital-based physician specialty practices across the U.S., announced that Princeton Radiology of Princeton, NJ, has purchased the company’s full suite of products: Electronic Billing Center (EBC), EBC Decision Support, EZ Med Portal and Radiology Information Services (RIS) software for their private outpatient imaging centers.

September 17, 2007 - Royal Philips Electronics announced today that customers have again rated its Medical Systems division number one in overall service performance for Ultrasound All Systems, comprising Radiology/OB-Gyn and Cardiology instruments, in the annual IMV ServiceTrak surveys.

Virtual Imaging Inc. received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its new high-resolution digital acquisition system, FluoroPro, which reportedly provides a flexible and inexpensive solution without sacrificing features and performance.

The system consists of a high-resolution CCD camera, an image processor and interface kit. The camera is specifically designed for Fluoroscopic imaging and can reportedly be integrated to any image intensifier to provide excellent image quality in low light conditions.

The eXpedo XR SToR from Sorna Corp. is a compact, networked DICOM CD/DVD publishing system with integrated storage that is designed for use by imaging centers and women’s health centers requiring a highly intelligent automated system designed for a very small space.

Kubtec recently released the next generation of its DICOM compliant DIGICOM 4.0 software for the XPERT 40 specimen radiography.

The new software completely automates the calibration process and minimizes the number of clicks needed from image acquisition to sending an image to PACS. It preserves the multicolor icons for image processing and measurement, at the fingertips of the user.

The Hologic Inc. TriMark 2S and CeleroMark 2S are titanium breast biopsy markers, containing a unique “hourglass” shape to help clinicians mark and independently identify multiple biopsy sites in the same breast.

2View LLC recently introduced the 2View, a container used for transporting and imaging breast specimens while keeping them untouched.

With a 2View, the surgeon oversees placement of the specimen in the container and directs the OR staff to apply just enough retention pressure to hold the specimen in place without distortion.

The container can be used for transport and imaging, and can supply orthogonal views. There is no need to open the 2View, nor to compress or manipulate the specimen. The specimen remains untouched until it is removed from the container in Pathology.

Siemens Medical Solutions’ fully digital prone table, MammoTest, has expanded Siemens’ biopsy portfolio by offering clinicians the choice of upright or prone stereotactic systems.
