September 6, 2007 - A biomedical engineer at Purdue University has developed a new method to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation that promises to be more effective than standard CPR, because it increases blood flow through the heart by 25 percent over the current method.
A new technique is needed because conventional CPR has a success rate of 5 percent to 10 percent, depending on how fast rescuers are able to respond and how well the procedure is performed. For every one minute of delay, the resuscitation rate decreases by 10 percent.

September 6, 2007 - Patient Comfort Systems Inc. recently introduced MRI table pad and patient positioning sets specially developed for stereotactic breast biopsies.

The new Patient Comfort sets address the need for enhanced comfort during these procedures that require women to lie prone for extended time periods. The cushioning system will reportedly make lengthy exams more tolerable and reduce movement during critical exam times as well as possible abortion of procedures.

September 6, 2007 - Cedara Software, a Merge Healthcare company, announced the introduction of a C4 enabled I-ReadMammo, creating a plug-in version of its digital mammography solution, designed for modular integration into any C4 enabled imaging solution, such as a Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS).

Cedara also reported that several imaging equipment vendors are integrating this new C4 enabled version of I-ReadMammo into their PACS solutions.
