Cincinnati Sub-Zero (CSZ) Products Inc. released its Kool Kit noninvasive, integrated, whole-body hypothermia system in September and displayed it at the 2007 ASA show.
The company says the Kool Kit system is an effective and efficient alternative to traditional patient cooling techniques. It combines the CSZ Head Wrap, Patient Vest, and Lower-Body Blanket together into an integrated, comprehensive solution for whole-body cooling that provides maximum surface area coverage.

Schiller America highlighted its new Schiller Maglife Lite, the newest addition to its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) family of monitors at the 2007 ASA show.
The Maglife Lite is a nonECG MRI compatible monitor that acquires, displays and trends patient data for SpO2 and NIBP. The Lite is compatible with scanners from .2 to 3 Tesla.

SonoSite Inc. introduced the S-Nerve procedural tool, custom-designed to support the specific needs of anesthesiologists who perform regional anesthesia.

SonoSite showcased the S-Nerve product at the 2007 American Society of Anesthesiologists’ annual meeting in San Francisco and expects to begin customer shipments in the fourth quarter of this year.

October 19, 2007 - Hospitals have struggled to prevent hospital-acquired infections, which kill tens of thousands of people each year, and a new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved VaproSure Sterilizer made by STERIS may be more effective at cleaning patient rooms than the traditional mop-and-bucket.
Recently the EPA approved the VaproSure Sterilizer, which the maker says has been shown to effectively eradicate almost all bacteria, viruses, and MRSA. The sterilizer makes it possible to sterilize all of the exposed pre-cleaned surfaces within a sealed room.

October 19, 2007 - Medical Decisions Network (MDN) said yesterday it received FDA 510(k) clearance for its MDN-CGS IV Insulin Dosing Software for use by hospital nurses to quickly and accurately calculate the dosage of intravenous insulin administered to patients with elevated levels of blood glucose.

Each year, some 4,000 patients receive treatment at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Center (TOHCC). TOHCC operates two TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment systems and eight conventional linear accelerators. In December 2006, the center began using StatRT, new software developed by TomoTherapy, when providing palliative care to patients with disease recurrence and/or metastatic cancers.
