October 25, 2007 – RaySearch and TomoTherapy Inc. will showcase their works-in-progress concepts which is a suite of software products in development to facilitate the transfer of radiation therapy treatment plans between TomoTherapy Hi-Art treatment systems and conventional linear accelerators and extend the Hi-Art system’s treatment planning functionality, at ASTRO, Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2007.

October 25, 2007 - Varian Medical Systems today announced that the company will unveil RapidArc, a radiotherapy technology that will reportedly enable clinicians to program a Varian linear accelerator designed to deliver more precise forms of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), at the meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) held Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2007, in Los Angeles, CA.

IsoRay Medical Inc. will feature its new brand campaign for its existing proprietary Cesium-131 prostate cancer brachytherapy seed at ASTRO 2007.

Under the name Proxcelan, IsoRay Medical Inc. is expanding the marketing of its Cesium-131 seeds used in low dose radiation (LDR) permanent brachytherapy for prostate cancer. The reportedly fast-acting, high energy medical isotope has demonstrated strong clinical results and is being heralded as the first leap forward in seed brachytherapy in 20 years.

Siemens will showcase at ASTRO 2007 its CTVision, previously marketed under the name PRIMATOM, whichreportedly brings advanced image guidance to radiation treatment delivery by integrating a linear accelerator and a CT gantry that travels along rails (CT-on-rails), allowing for diagnostic imaging of the patient on the treatment table.

Siemens Medical Solutions will exhibit at ASTRO 2007 an alternative approach to IGRT, the MVision Megavoltage Cone Beam Imaging Package that is reportedly a powerful, unique volumetric in-line target imaging solution that employs the existing treatment beam to provide 3D target imaging.

Varian Medical Systems will unveil at ASTRO 2007 RapidArc, a radiotherapy technology that will reportedly make it possible to quickly deliver a complete intensity- modulated radiation treatment during a single rotation of the treatment machine around the patient while potentially conforming dose more closely to the size, shape and location of the tumor and sparing more surrounding healthy tissue.

October 24, 2007 — Study results presented this week at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutic (TCT) annual meeting in Washington D.C., demonstrated that the use of GE's isosmolar contrast medium Visipaque (iodixanol) resulted in a statistically significantly lower rate of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) than the low osmolar nonionic contrast agent ioversol, according to the company.

October 24, 2007 – Researchers for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) have found that emotional well-being is not an independent factor in predicting the survival time of patients with head and neck cancer.
