October 25, 2007 - Varian Medical Systems today announced that the company will unveil RapidArc, a radiotherapy technology that will reportedly enable clinicians to program a Varian linear accelerator designed to deliver more precise forms of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), at the meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) held Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, 2007, in Los Angeles, CA.

IsoRay Medical Inc. will feature its new brand campaign for its existing proprietary Cesium-131 prostate cancer brachytherapy seed at ASTRO 2007.

Under the name Proxcelan, IsoRay Medical Inc. is expanding the marketing of its Cesium-131 seeds used in low dose radiation (LDR) permanent brachytherapy for prostate cancer. The reportedly fast-acting, high energy medical isotope has demonstrated strong clinical results and is being heralded as the first leap forward in seed brachytherapy in 20 years.

Varian Medical Systems will unveil at ASTRO 2007 RapidArc, a radiotherapy technology that will reportedly make it possible to quickly deliver a complete intensity- modulated radiation treatment during a single rotation of the treatment machine around the patient while potentially conforming dose more closely to the size, shape and location of the tumor and sparing more surrounding healthy tissue.
