March 4, 2008 - Bionix Radiation Therapy featured its new Prone Breast System that utilizes prone positioning for breast treatment to deliver less irradiation to the lung, cardiac tissue and contralateral breast, at NCBC 2008.

Gravity is utilized to separate cancerous masses from surrounding lung and cardiac tissue and for greater reproducibility of the breast being treated.

March 4, 2008 - KUB Technologies brought to NCBC 2008 its new XPERT 40 digital specimen radiography system, a mobile, self-contained, shielded cabinet X-ray system available with up to an 8-by-8-inch (20-by-20-cm) digital radiography detector for inspection of surgically excised needle core biopsies and tissue specimens.

With its 1.0 mA X-ray source, the XPERT reportedly provides the highest signal to noise ratio and the lowest chances of missing micro-calcifications.

March 4, 2008 - Advanced Imaging Technologies showcased the ARIA Breast Imaging System (BIS), a real-time, through-wave ultrasound imaging system that uses the diffractive properties of sound combined with holography (HU) to create highly detailed, 3D images of breast tissue, now equipped for image-guided biopsy, at NCBC 2008.

March 4, 2008 - VIDAR Systems Corp. highlighted its CAD PRO Advantage digitizer specifically designed for mammography, providing the ability to quickly digitize film-based prior studies and, when coupled with the appropriate software, uses the DICOM MG standard to identify the specific mammography view contained on each film, at NCBC 2008.

March 4, 2008 - FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA featured its digital mammography system, Fuji Computed Radiography for Mammography (FCRm) that works to offer a combination of image quality, versatility and practicality, at NCBC 2008.

The system provides 18-by-24-centimeter and 24-by-30-centimeter fields-of-view, 50-micron pixel sampling and Fuji’s patented dual-side reading technology.

March 4, 2008 - Siemens Healthcare displayed at NCBC its MAMMOMAT Novation S, created to help detect, diagnose and treat breast cancer earlier, faster and with greater precision, designed as a cost-effective solution for facilities that are making the transition to digital breast imaging but do not have the need for the advanced functionality of state-of-the-art systems, at NCBC 2008.

The new version of Visage CS Cardiac Analysis is said to feature a set of new tools and optimizations such as calcium scoring, enhanced reporting and manual editing of the left ventricle geometry. Visage CS Cardiac Analysis is designed to allow viewing and post-processing of even the largest multi-phase cardiac CT studies, using Visage’s server-based thin-client performance.

March 3, 2008 - AirInSpace said last week it received FDA clearance to market its PlasmairT2006 mobile system as a medical device, the same technology that has been protecting astronauts aboard the International Space Station since 2000 against harmful particulates and microbes.

In October 2007, AirInSpace said it closed an $8.5 million Series “B” round of financing to fuel the company’s expansion into the U.S.

March 3, 2008 - More than 80 percent of healthcare consumers say they want greater access to their medical information and test results online, according to a new survey from the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions released at the HIMSS.

The survey found consumers increasingly want access to technology and services they are currently not receiving from their healthcare providers.
