April 28, 2008 - Elekta filled its first New Zealand order for the Elekta Synergy system with MOSAIQ EMR and Elekta VMAT, at Auckland Radiation Oncology Limited (ARO), hoping to provide its patients with improved precision in treating tumors.

Intuitive Imaging Informatics will feature its PET Fusion at SIIM 2008, designed to provide the ability to combine high-resolution, anatomic images from a CT with functional images produced by PET in an integrated image. The system features user-selectable color maps, real time PET transparency manipulation and automated multi-planar reconstruction (MRP) for orthogonal views.

April 25, 2008 – Integra LifeSciences Holdings Corp. said its moldable putty configuration of Integra Mozaik Osteoconductive Scaffold is now available in a smaller configuration.

The addition of the smaller configuration aims to enable clinicians to use Integra Mozaik Osteoconductive Scaffold where smaller sizes are appropriate, such as cervical spine fusion and other non-spine orthopedic procedures.

April 25, 2008 - Smith & Nephew’s Endoscopy Division announced the launch of the FOOTPRINT PK Suture Anchor, a system used to attach rotator cuff tissue to bone in the shoulder.

The system is featured at AANA 2008.

The objective during rotator cuff repair is to return the soft tissue to its original anatomic attachment site. Unlike early single row suture anchor techniques, which employed single-point re-attachment, the “footprint repair” approach uses multiple anchors in two rows, often with suture bridges that provide greater tissue-to-bone attachment.

April 25, 2008 - EPIX Pharmaceuticals Inc. met all pre-specified endpoints prospectively agreed to with the FDA in a blinded, independent re-read of images of its novel blood pool magnetic resonance angiographic (MRA) agent, Vasovist (gadofosveset trisodium), and plans to resubmit a New Drug Application (NDA) to the FDA for Vasovist in mid-2008.
