May 28, 2008 – DICOMetrix, an image flow and network performance monitoring solution, now boasts a new Images Per Minute (IPM) feature that allows for user-controlled monitoring on the enterprise version in IPM, in addition to the previously announced Images Per Second (IPS).

The IPM feature is reportedly beneficial for monitoring slower modalities and slower inter-facility connections in a PACS enterprise that are typically around one IPS. Monitoring in IPM makes setting baseline and alert settings much easier and more accurate, according to the company.

May 28, 2008 – TomoTherapy earned the top user satisfaction composite rating among four vendors in the linear accelerator-based radiation therapy marketplace, appearing in MD Buyline's Quarterly User Satisfaction Report, published on April 15, 2008.

TomoTherapy is reportedly the only vendor for the CT-based linear accelerator which delivers radiation dose in a helical or fan beam fashion. Elekta, Siemens and Varian offer IMRT and IGRT options on conventional linear accelerator systems.

May 28, 2008 - Midwest Health Partners, P.C. selected NovaRad’s NovaPACS imaging technology for its practice, bringing NovaRad’s total number of NovaPACS and NovaRIS installations in Nebraska to 20.

NovaPACS provides screen viewing and mouse-based functions, giving users access to images and reports from any computer, according to the company. Developed from the same platform as NovaPACS, NovaRIS, a Web-based, open standards RIS, generates reports, analyzes exams, measures profitability and facilitates paperless management of patient records.

May 28, 2008 - Earlier this week, Verity Radiation Therapy, at The Texas Clinic at Prestonwood, became the second medical center in the U.S. to commence treating cancer patients with RapidArc radiotherapy technology from Varian Medical Systems.

RapidArc is an advanced form of image-guided, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) that can be delivered two to eight times faster than is possible with conventional IMRT or helical tomotherapy.
