September 15, 2008 – Syntermed unveiled ReconTools, a software package that performs image reconstruction, quality control and correction for degraded image quality in myocardial perfusion SPECT images, at the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) 2008 annual meeting in Boston, Sept. 10-14.

September 15, 2008 - BSD Medical Corp. said the FDA 510(k) cleared its MicroThermX-100 Microwave Ablation System (MTX-100).

The MTX-100 is a compact, mobile system that includes a state-of-the-art computer, a microwave generator, single-patient-use disposable applicators and a proprietary thermistor-based temperature monitoring system.

September 15, 2008 - Results from a safety study indicating that HX4, a new imaging biomarker that enables imaging hypoxic tumors, is safe for use in human positron emission tomography (PET) imaging studies, were presented on September 12, 2008, at the World Molecular Imaging Conference in Nice, France.

September 12, 2008 – GE Healthcare and Varian Inc. will begin a collaboration to develop a new preclinical 7T magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system to create an advanced MR for research purposes.

Under the agreement, initial development and integration will be a joint effort between the two companies. Once development is complete, Varian will offer customers a fully integrated 7T System combining GE Healthcare’s electronics, user interface, pulse-sequences and applications with the magnet, gradients, positioning devices and RF coils provided by Varian.
