September 8, 2008 - The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) has launched an interactive job board for medical imaging informatics called the SIIM Career Center (http://careers.siimweb.org), which is open to both members and non-members.

The SIIM Career Center is a recruitment resource for PACS administrators and other imaging informatics professionals, offering individual and institutional members, and the imaging industry at large, an easy-to-use and highly targeted resource for online employment connections.

September 8, 2008 - Excluding cardiac causes in patients presenting to the emergency department (ED) with chest pain using myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) can prevent unnecessary admissions, making it a cost-efficient tool in the evaluation of these patients, according to a study published in the Sept. 15 issue of the American Journal of Cardiology.

September 8, 2008- Hologic featured its MammoSite Targeted Radiation Therapy at BIC 2008.

MammoSite places a MammoSite balloon inside the lumpectomy cavity through a small incision in the breast through a catheter. During therapy, a portion of the catheter that remains outside the breast is connected to a computer-controlled High Dose Rate machine that inserts a radiation seed. The treatment lasts five days.
