Radiation Oncology

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that uses radiation therapy to treat cancer. The radiation therapy channel covers all aspects of radiation oncology technology. Radiation therapy includes linear accelerators (LINAC), proton therapy, brachytherapy, image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), focused ultrasound, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), treatment planning systems and tomotherapy.

An outstanding line-up of speakers and topics were featured at ASTRO22, including two dynamic keynote speakers focused on the meeting theme of AI & EI: Caring for the Patient in a Wireless World, in an effort to inform the bigger picture of the rapidly changing health care environment beyond radiation oncology. The conference was held Oct. 23-26 in San Antonio.
