Computed Tomography (CT)

Computed tomography (CT) systems use a series of X-ray images to create an image volume dataset with slices that can be manipulated on any plane using advanced visualization software. The section includes computed tomography scanners, CT contrast agents, CT angiography (CTA and CCTA), CT perfusion, spectral CT (dual-source CT), and iterative reconstruction dose reduction software.

Lung cancer screening is recommended only for those who are at high risk for the disease — adults ages 50–80 who smoke at least 20 packs a year—but even among members of that high-risk group, screening rates remain low, ranging from 5% to 20% of those eligible for the screening CT scan.

A radiotherapy treatment plan for Accuray’s Tomotherapy system to kill white blood cells prior to a liver cancer patient undergoing a transplant. The treatment is aimed at the bone marrow and spares dose to most of the organs to reduce side effects. This was an example plan created on the new Volvo Ultra treatment planning system. The software allow planning for more than 100 cm of anatomy. It also allows users to drag target dose values of the main graph and the system will recalculate all the doses.
