November 21, 2017 — Mevion Medical Systems announced the Mevion S250i Proton Therapy System has achieved CE Marking clearance. CE Marking permits clinical use of the system within the European Union and any country that recognizes the CE Mark. The system includes Hyperscan technology, the next generation of pencil beam scanning (PBS) for faster, sharper and more robust proton treatments.

Scientists and clinicians from Singapore and Germany have successfully used multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT) to achieve accurate, real-time 3-D imaging of non-melanoma skin cancer tumors. This imaging technique uses a combination of light pulses and ultrasound waves to form 3-D images that are precise in dimensions and depth.

DiA Imaging Analysis announced it has signed a multi-year, non-exclusive licensing and professional services agreement with GE Healthcare. DiA intends to develop its automated imaging analysis technology to work with GE Healthcare's ultrasound devices.

Eizo announced in October the release of the new 55-inch 4K UHD monitor CuratOR LX550W for use in interventional radiology and endoscopy. The company said this widescreen monitor with 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) resolution is ideal for displaying medical images for angiography, cardiology or endoscopy in medical environments and can be mounted on a wall or ceiling mount.
