Philips has released Model Based Segmentation (MBS) software for IGRT workflow enhancement. The software will be an upgrade on the Pinnacle3 Radiation Therapy Planning system.

MVision, from Siemens Medical Solutions, is a volumetric inline target imaging solution and the natural next step in Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT). Designed to work with Siemens’ linear accelerators, the system is the first commercial implementation of cone-beam technology utilizing a standard radiotherapy treatment beam. MVision makes it possible for the megavoltage (MV) source used for treatment to also create a 3-D image of the patient, enabling clinicians to “see inside” the patient at the most appropriate moment.

VIDAR's DosimetryPRO Advantage offers a digitizer with a 32-bit data path that outputs 16 bits of grayscale data. It can provide more information in the prenumbral regions, which means dose levels to adjacent tissues can be more accurately measured. It also means that leaf leakage in MLC (Multi-Leaf Collimator) systems are easier to measure.

TomoPortal is a Web-enabled interface that links directly with the TomoTherapy Hi·Art System to provide immediate, secure and easy access to essential patient information.
It allows comprehensive and remote review of treatment histories, plans and registration images from a Windows XP-compatible PC, laptop or tablet with Web access. Clinicians can quickly make decisions to modify or maintain dose delivery or patient set-up.

Kodak will show enhancements to a dosimetry package for the 2000RT CR plus system for radiation oncology. This optional feature allows physicists to perform a range of beam and IMRT QA procedures along with the 2000RT’s ability to capture portal localization, verification and simulation images.

The Sinmed Mastercouch consists of a base that replaces most existing treatment couches. The base is then extended with a treatment module, dedicated to a specific treatment area.

Varian Medical Systems’ exhibit at the 2006 ASTRO meeting will focus on the clinical deployment of the company’s technology for advanced radiotherapy, with a special emphasis on the On-Board Imager (OBI) device for image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Earlier this year, the company announced that more than 60 percent of all new machine orders now include the OBI for imaging, tracking and targeting tumors.

The Virtua Medical Disc Publisher is a network-based CD/DVD publisher that automatically records and labels patient studies. It can be used in combination with Codonics’ multimedia imagers, which gives radiology groups a complete solution for all image distribution needs including film, color paper, grayscale paper, CD and DVD.
The Virtua takes up only two feet of counter space and can offload disc recording from the modality and PACS workstations so that patients can be processed without interruption to the workflow.

Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. will showcase its Aquilion Large Bore (LB) at this year’s ASTRO Meeting. With a bore opening of 90 cm and a 70 cm acquired field-of-view, the Aquilion LB makes it possible to accurately scan patients of all sizes in various positions for image acquisition during CT simulation.

Intelerad Medical Systems Inc. has announced the release of InteleViewer Workstation, a DICOM workstation software product for diagnostic reading.
The workstation reportedly allows the user to DICOM query/retrieve from multiple sources: PACS, modalities or other DICOM devices. The workstation also allows images to be imported from CD for viewing or sending to another DICOM device.
