Medison America has announced the first comprehensive upgrade for the Accuvix XQ. Prestige Edition expands the capabilities of the system into the cardiology field.
The upgrade is organized into four major enhancement areas. The biggest addition is 3-D eXtended imaging technology, a collection of comprehensive 3-D image processing technology that incorporates CT- and MRI-like functions into ultrasound. Also included in the upgrade are Multi-Slice View, Oblique View and VolumeCT.

The Gammex 490 PET CT multi-modality phantom allows users to perform QC tests on both modalities with the same phantom. CT QC tests can be performed to check for alignment, positioning, CT number accuracy, slice thickness, high and low contrast and CT number uniformity. Inserts containing different size spheres allow for “hot” spot activity testing and different inserts also allow for attenuation testing. The phantom is portable and made of solid water and acrylic.

NightHawk Radiology Holdings Inc., a teleradiology services group, recently announced that it has issued an initial public offering of 6,300,000 shares of common stock sold at $16 per share, as the Australian-based company begins trading on the Nasdaq National Market.
Of the 6.3 million shares, NightHawk will sell 5,800,000 shares, and entities affiliated with Summit Partners will sell 500,000 shares. Designated selling shareholders have granted the underwriters an over-allotment option to purchase up to an additional 945,000 shares.
