CoActiv will introduce at RSNA its EXAM-RIS, a fully Web-based radiology information system (RIS), integrated with its Web-based enterprise EXAM-PACS. The New RIS includes single and multisite scheduling, multisite billing capabilities, patient information and charting (EMR), document scanning, transcription and more.

Cerner will introduce a new vision for the future of radiology workstations. According to the company, the Cerner ProVision Workstation uses the latest technology for speed and on-call capabilities. Using an ergonomically designed and intuitive interface, the workstation reportedly streamlines the radiologist workflow and increases throughput. The workstation brings interactive, dynamic viewing capabilities straight to the radiologist’s fingertips.

Carestream Health will demonstrate the latest features of its KODAK CARESTREAM PACS that includes dynamic streaming capabilities to enhance the rapid delivery of images to clinicians in on-site and remote locations. The PACS platform offers optional integrated applications such as image fusion, orthopaedic surgical templating, 3D imaging and advanced cardiac features.

The AccessRAD RIS/PACS version 6.3 includes expanded support for outpatient imaging center application as well as real-time management views using a “dashboard”, allowing the user to monitor overall department workload.

The Amicas Vision Series PACS Version 5.5 introduces major enhancements to the RealTime Worklist, including role-based workflow management. Also included are extended Vision Watch reporting capabilities and new advanced high-availability options.

One example of role-based workflow management is that ED discrepancies can be identified and communicated back to the ED physician quickly. Besides the ED wet read assessment, other exam factors can now be captured and stored with the study, such as teaching file status, image quality assessment and study reservation.

AMS' Image Vault is a hardware/software solution that takes DICOM images (from either CDs or a network) and organizes the images by patient name and patient ID. Image Vault consists of an all-in-one computer and viewing station, and includes AMS’ 4.0 diagnostic imaging software that allows for viewing of all current and previous patient images received via the internet or by CD in a well thought-out process. A wide range of diagnostic tools is available including window/level, zoom, pan, annotation, measure and MPR (multiplanar reconstruction for CT and MR studies).

NovaRad will feature its NovaPACS 7.0 and NovaRIS at AHRA 2008.
Tighter integration between the systems offers enhanced image access and scheduling/billing/process management for radiologists and administrative staff. Additional enhancements in these latest versions include an improved information NovaCentral support “command center” for real-time remote monitoring and referring physician features in NovaPACS to enhance image reading efficiency.

Danmeter will introduce its new CSM Wireless Display with a large color screen for enhanced parameter viewing during the 2007 ASA show.

The Wireless Display complements the Danmeter Cerebral State Monitor (CSM), which is a state of the art portable and affordable brain function monitor that indicates the level of consciousness during sedation. Powered by Danmeter’s Cerebral State Index (CSI), the CSM displays the direct effect of anesthetics and sedatives on the brain as a number between 0 and 100, with 40 to 60 indicating an optimal target for surgical anesthesia.

Draeger Medical Inc. plans to show off its Fabius Tiro M, a deployable field anesthesia machine designed for use in a variety of environments in support of military missions worldwide.
It is designed to provide a full-feature anesthesia machine in a compact system for military installations in the field where general anesthesia is required. The Fabius Tiro M is a modular variant of the Fabius Tiro, which has been commercially marketed and successfully accepted in hospitals worldwide since 2003.

October 10, 2007 – Care Communications Inc. recently announced an agreement with the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC), a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients, to provide its cancer registry services to support the annual National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) Call for Data.
