For the Coronary Artery Evaluation Using 64-Row Multidetector CT Angiography (CORE-64) Trial, researchers at nine international centers studied 291 patients who were scheduled to undergo invasive coronary angiography for suspected or unknown coronary artery disease.

November 29, 2007 - According to the findings of a Boston University Medical Center survey presented at RSNA 2007, black and Hispanic women have a different understanding of screening mammography compared with that of Caucasian women.

Researchers surveyed 1,011 women of various educational, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds who underwent screening mammography at Boston University Medical Center. The survey asked women questions about their understanding of mammography and their preferences regarding call-back after a suspicious finding on a screening mammogram.

November 29, 2007 – A study presented at RSNA 2007, that used long-time-scale, global helium-3 diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), found that secondhand smoke damages lungs.

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, examined the lungs of 43 volunteers, including seven current and former smokers and 36 people who had never smoked, 18 of whom had a high level of exposure to secondhand smoke.

November 29, 2007 – TOTOKU Electronics Inc. showed its new 800cd/m2 super luminance, color, CCL354i2 3-megapixel LCD, flat panel display screens for reviewing both color and monochrome images during the 2007 RSNA meeting.

The company says the new monitors will be available in the spring of 2008 and will be cheaper than many current black and white screens. The high contrast screens and high light output makes them able to be used for black and white X-ray image review, which require more brightness than most color monitors offer.
