Overall market for X-ray films, chemicals and processors is projected to reach $5.9 billion by 2010.

April 22, 2008 - Mountain Valley Imaging of Rexburg, ID, selected NovaRad’s NovaPACS and NovaRIS technologies, in hopes of enhancing patient service and streamlining image reading and reporting.

NovaPACS provides screen viewing and mouse-based functions, giving users access to images and reports from any computer, according to the company. Developed from the same platform as NovaPACS, NovaRIS, a Web-based, open standards RIS, generates reports, analyzes exams, measures profitability and facilitates paperless management of patient records.

Intuitive Imaging Informatics is showcasing its Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions, designed to reduce retrieval times down to two to three seconds.

Built on SCSI or Serial-ATA (SATA), RAID-5 based systems, fault tolerance and reliability have been improved, said the company. Auto-diagnostic tools for hands-free monitoring and pre-alerts for any potential problems are also provided.

The ImageQube is Intuitive Imaging Informatics’ Web-based PACS. Available at either the diagnostic or clinical level, the ImageQube is designed to provide the ability to easily distribute patient information across enterprise, referring physician base or directly to a patient. The ImageQube’s network architecture provides real-time radiology services to referring physician base and on-call radiologists.

Intuitive Imaging Informatics will display digitizers at SIIM 2008, including its Array 2905 Laser Film Digitizer. Designed for primary diagnostic applications demanding high accuracy digital image reproduction, this small footprint laser film digitizer scans medical X-ray film images into computer systems with laser accuracy for diagnostic PACS and teleradiology applications. It offers high-contrast sensitivity over a wide optical density range, reportedly providing accurate capture of subtle image detail even in dark or overexposed film images.

Intuitive Imaging Informatics will feature its Primera’s CD Mastering Systems. These all-in-one, compact, desktop units deliver automated, robotic CD/DVD duplication, along with full-color printing, reportedly ideal for producing clinical CDs containing multiple exams, key image summaries and clinical reports. Primera standard CD Mastering Systems are available in capacities of 25, 50, 100 or 400.

This aims to help medical institutions to reduce their storage costs and allows them to redirect resources to clinical operations.

PACSGEAR Inc. has added a high-volume robotic CD/DVD burner for its PACSGEAR MediaWriter.

To be launched at the SIIM 2008, MediaWriter D200 uses the Epson Discproducer to quickly write and print DICOM CDs/DVDs with one click. Discproducer has two CD/DVD drives and a capacity of 100 discs, giving hospitals, healthcare networks and imaging centers a DICOM distribution solution that is easy to configure, deploy and maintain, according to the company.
