October 13, 2008 - Vibration response imaging (VRI) allows better evaluation of lung volume regional variations after chest lobectomy compared to functional respiratory tests, according to data presented by Professor Roberto Bossi at the 18th European Respiratory Society Congress last week.

The study measured the effectiveness of VRI for the evaluation of lung function compared to functional respiratory tests, before and after thoracic surgery.

October 13, 2008 - GE Healthcare and Boston Scientific Corp. agreed to collaborate to improve intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) workflow between the GE Healthcare Innova Cardiovascular X-ray System and the Boston Scientific iLab Ultrasound Imaging System.

Boston Scientific and GE will offer advances in the field of IVUS to joint customers, and are displaying the iLab and Innova Systems at the Oct. 12-17 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Scientific Symposium in Washington, D.C.

October 10, 2008 - Brennen Medical said its XenMatriX product for soft tissue reconstruction is now available.
Brennen Medical received clearance to market XenMatriX, via the FDA 510k process, into the surgical hernia market. Surgeons are successfully implanting XenMatriX in ventral hernia/abdominal wall procedures, including complex repairs, according to the company.
