October 7, 2008 - Researchers at The Single Cell Proteomics group at Imperial College London say they have used an imaging technology known as coherent two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy, 2DIR, to identify proteins in laboratory tests.

October 7, 2008 - Carestream Health and the San Salvatore Hospital in the Province of L’Aquila in the Abruzzo Region in Italy, have developed a module for an Italian language Radiology Information System (RIS) that allows general practitioners (GPs) within the region to directly book digital X-ray examinations for their patients and receive the results back on their PC.

October 7, 2008 - VisualSonics launched the Vevo 2100 preclinical imaging platform in North America and Europe, designed to produce first high-resolution images with edge-to-edge clarity and dynamic focusing are possible and will allow small animal researchers to scan measure and quantify with ease.

The system provides color doppler, strain analysis and reportedly high-field of view clarity. Acccording to the manufacturer, the Vevo 2100 represents a breakthrough in imaging technology by including color flow imaging, advanced transducers and a robust analysis package.

October 7, 2008 – Philips contributes cardiovascular X-ray systems to hybrid surgery suites by STERIS Corp. to treat patients requiring minimally invasive cardiovascular surgical procedures, or those needing open surgery, within a single operating suite.

October 6, 2008 – The AHRA, the association for medical imaging management, has created the Patient First Program funded by an unrestricted educational grant from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., that aims to improve patient care and safety in diagnostic imaging – an important issue to hospitals, physicians and administrators.

Fujifilm will showcase a full line-up of breast imaging solutions highlighted by a new detector technology featuring Direct Optical Switching (DOS). Complimenting Fujifilm’s current digital mammography products it will be the first amorphous selenium detector with a 50 micron pixel size. Plans for commercialization will be announced.

Fujifilm and partner Empiric Systems LLC will be demonstrating the integrated PACS/RIS, featuring Fujifilm’s Synapse PACS with Empiric’s Encompass.NET RIS.

This integration has now been widely adopted in both the hospital and imaging center markets as it further drives efficiencies in the radiology department working as one solution. New features such as integrated critical results reporting, peer review, and quality improvement functionality will be demonstrated.

At RSNA Fujifilm will be highlighting its complete cardiovascular PACS solution. With the availability of ProSolv CardioVascular 4.0, the Fujifilm ProSolv CardioVascular application is now fully integrated, delivering not only diagnostic efficiency benefits, but also shared storage infrastructure and cost savings benefits.

Quest International will showcase its recently-released 21.3-inch 6 MP, grayscale medical display. The MS21i2 is a high resolution display utilizing independent subpixel drive technology.

The MS21i2 achieves 1276-step simultaneously displayable grayscale palette by using enhanced ISD technology enabling more accurate display images.

Xybix Systems Inc. will feature its ErgoPower Height Adjustable tables at RSNA 2008.

They tables aim to combine Xybix’s durable, custom craftsmanship with the precise ergonomic requirements defined in the National ANSI/Human Factors Engineering of Computer Workstations Ergonomics Standard.

These dual-surface tables, with advanced lifting columns, controlled by I-Fit software, reportedly deliver each and every individual optimal ergonomic benefits.
