Fujifilm will showcase a full line-up of breast imaging solutions highlighted by a new detector technology featuring Direct Optical Switching (DOS). Complimenting Fujifilm’s current digital mammography products it will be the first amorphous selenium detector with a 50 micron pixel size. Plans for commercialization will be announced.

Fujifilm and partner Empiric Systems LLC will be demonstrating the integrated PACS/RIS, featuring Fujifilm’s Synapse PACS with Empiric’s Encompass.NET RIS.

This integration has now been widely adopted in both the hospital and imaging center markets as it further drives efficiencies in the radiology department working as one solution. New features such as integrated critical results reporting, peer review, and quality improvement functionality will be demonstrated.

At RSNA Fujifilm will be highlighting its complete cardiovascular PACS solution. With the availability of ProSolv CardioVascular 4.0, the Fujifilm ProSolv CardioVascular application is now fully integrated, delivering not only diagnostic efficiency benefits, but also shared storage infrastructure and cost savings benefits.

Quest International will showcase its recently-released 21.3-inch 6 MP, grayscale medical display. The MS21i2 is a high resolution display utilizing independent subpixel drive technology.

The MS21i2 achieves 1276-step simultaneously displayable grayscale palette by using enhanced ISD technology enabling more accurate display images.

Xybix Systems Inc. will feature its ErgoPower Height Adjustable tables at RSNA 2008.

They tables aim to combine Xybix’s durable, custom craftsmanship with the precise ergonomic requirements defined in the National ANSI/Human Factors Engineering of Computer Workstations Ergonomics Standard.

These dual-surface tables, with advanced lifting columns, controlled by I-Fit software, reportedly deliver each and every individual optimal ergonomic benefits.

Biospace Med reported it has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA to market the company’s EOS X-ray imager along with its new image workstation, sterEOS, which enables 3D skeletal reconstruction.

October 7, 2008 – The Medipattern Corp. will introduce enhancements to its B-CAD breast imaging computer aided detection (CAD) solution at RSNA 2008.

B-CAD v.1.3 is available in the U.S. and B-CAD v.2.3 is available globally. These are reportedly the first breast ultrasound CAD tools to provide advanced decision-making support for lesion analysis. Radiologists are able to document notes, patient history and lesion information, resulting in a thorough diagnosis and effective communication.

iCAD Inc. will officially launch several new CAD analysis and clinical decision support tools that work in combination with CT and MRI imaging modalities. The company will also showcase its SecondLook CAD system, which offers compatibility with Full-Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) solutions – both digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR). Highlighted will be the SecondLook Digital CAD for Fujifilm CR systems, which is the reportedly first and only CAD solution to receive FDA approval and is already installed in numerous sites.

October 6, 2008 - Doctors in Syracuse, NY, have deployed RapidArc radiotherapy technology from Varian Medical Systems.

A new weapon in the fight against cancer, RapidArc delivers a precise image-guided IMRT treatment in two minutes or less, which is two to eight times faster than was previously possible with conventional IMRT, said Varian.

October 6, 2008 - Quantum Medical Imaging has completed an installation of their DiRex Digital System, which includes a digitally integrated Quantum Radiographic system and AGFA DX-S CR system at Intermountain Orthopedics in Boise, ID.
