September 26, 2008 - A software grant that could lead to orthopedic surgeons being able to immediately gauge the effectiveness of implanted joints has been announced by LifeModeler Inc.

The company, a global provider of biomechanical human body simulation tools and services, will provide $400,000
of software and services to InMotion Musculoskeletal Institute and the University of Memphis.

September 26, 2008 — Maquet Inc. released its new LED surgical lights – the PowerLED 700 and the compact PowerLED 500 – incorporating the latest LED technology, aiming to improve illumination and ease of use.

Both lights provide exceptional depth of field within a 47-inch deep column of light enabling deep cavity illumination.

Other improvements include new LED technology, which reportedly extends illumination to 40,000 hours – up to 33 percent more than other LED systems, and a Flux Stability Program (FSP) that provides consistent light output during surgery.
