October 14, 2008 – iCAD’s two new MRI products — SpectraLook, iCAD’s image analysis solution for breast and prostate MRI studies, and CADvue, an image review and analysis software for breast MR — will be unveiled at the 7th Annual Symposium on Advances in Breast MRI in Las Vegas, from October 16-18, 2008.

October 14, 2008 - Clinicians at VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, who are using RapidArc technology from Varian Medical Systems to treat early stage lung cancer patients now plan to replace conventional stereotactic radiotherapy treatments with RapidArc for all such patients.

A 57-year-old male, diagnosed with a 1.2cm diameter non-small cell lung tumor in the right upper lobe and deemed unfit for surgery as a result of severe emphysema, was the first patient to receive the pioneering radiotherapy treatment at the hospital in early September.

October 14, 2008 - GE Healthcare introduced Discovery PET/CT 600, its newest positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) system at the annual meeting of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) Congress in Munich.

Recently cleared by the FDA, Discovery PET/CT 600 is part of GE’s Discovery family of scanners designed to enable earlier detection and accurate monitoring of disease with molecular imaging technology in both hardware and software.

October 14, 2008 – Health Systems Solutions Inc. (HSS) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100 percent of the stock of Emageon Inc., in a deal where HSS will acquire all outstanding shares of Emageon common stock for $2.85 a share, in an all cash transaction of approximately $62 million.

The price represents approximately a 37 percent premium on Emageon’s share price as of market close on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008.
